How PDT Sparked My First Drent Litter

If I hadn’t heard the PDT about Drentsche Patrijshond I may have never gotten one and found the breed I’ve absolutely fallen in love with. And having found that breed and an amazing mentor in Jenna and Brian I am so proud to show off my very first litter ever and a nice addition of 9 more pups to a breed of only ~130 in the US right now!

How Max Helped Me Heal

I have never had a dog before, and I chose this Chinese Shar Pei. My wife passed away 3 1/2 years ago. I was talking to myself and sitting in front of the computer too much. I was afraid of appearing crazy, so now I talk to Max, and he takes me out twice a day. We probably do about 35 to 40 KM per week. He is stubborn, independent, and very smart. I am learning as we go in the training department. I have socialized him, so he gets along with most dogs and people. I get stopped a lot by people passing by, even driving by, to say how cute he is. I did my research before getting him, but there are always surprises and things I am learning about him. To say he has taken over my life is a big understatement. But never a day goes by when he doesn’t put a smile on my face. When I am on the computer, he will come over and tap my leg, either he wants to go out, or water, etc. And when I am watching TV, he will come over to lay down on my lap.

A Moment of Gratitude That Couldn’t Have Come at a Better Time!

Oh my gosh, I could cry getting this alert on my phone today. I have my 4th litter, and they’re 3 days old. I have my very first puppy who isn’t just thriving off mama, and I’m supplementing with my syringe and formula. I’m just overwhelmed and under-slept… and this pops up. I haven’t even listened to it yet, and I don’t know if I’ll have to tube feed, but I just had a little emotional moment and had to thank you for reading my mind at the perfect time while I’m sitting at my computer googling all the things. How Pure Dog Talk Inspired My Journey with Saga

I was involved in agility with my Border Collies for a few years before I started listening to Pure Dog Talk. Listening to Pure Dog Talk inspired me to step out of my comfort zone, try a new breed, and explore a new sport. In 2024, I brought home my first Icelandic Sheepdog puppy and participated in my first conformation show, with many more of both in my future! Without the encouragement from PDT, I don’t know if I would have taken the leap into a rare breed, but I can say for sure that my life has changed for the better because of it!

Pro Tip: How Spinach Can Help Your Dog’s Digestive Troubles

If your dog eats something that might be sharp or pokey in their intestines, feeding them a lot of spinach can help push it through. While it doesn’t work every time, it does improve the chances of a positive outcome. Carl approves of this solution! I learned it from Dr. Marty Greer, a veterinarian, on the Pure Dog Talk podcast. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time I’ve had to use this trick.

Top Bull Terrier in Canada!

Your podcast supported me showing my bull terrier bitch Freyja and with the wackiness of 2020 she became the top Bull Terrier in Canada. Then as I binge listened time-out breeding podcasts with Dr Greer and with Avidog, I planned her breeding with frozen semen imported from Poland to an amazingly successful litter of 11 who are now 3 weeks old.

Otterhound Puppies

About two years ago, I was considering breeding my first litter of Otterhound puppies. I was really unsure of myself and didn’t think I had the knowledge or background to succeed. Then I discovered the Pure Dog Talk podcast and the Patrons group community. These podcasts are filled with amazing people and valuable information. They really gave me the encouragement and reassurance I needed to move forward. I’m happy to report that we have had nine Otterhound puppies so far, and I’m looking toward the future.

Editor’s Note: More rare than giant pandas, there are fewer than 800 Otterhounds worldwide, according to the Otterhound Club of America. Preserving this ancient hound is the life’s work of dedicated breeders, primarily in the US and the UK.
