Refund and Returns Policy

This Refund and Returns Policy ("Policy") describes the refund, cancellation, and return practices of Pure Dog Talk, Inc., a corporation organized under the laws of the State of Oregon ("Pure Dog Talk," "we," "us," or "our"), in connection with puredogtalk.com, the Pure Dog Talk podcast, our membership platforms, our seminars and events, the Club Partner Program, our shop, and all related products, services, and communications (collectively, the "Services").
This Policy supplements, but does not replace, our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Capitalized terms not defined herein have the meanings given in the Terms of Service.
By making a purchase, registering for a Subscription, or otherwise using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, you must not access or use the paid portions of the Services.
Section headings are provided for convenience only and shall not affect the interpretation of this Policy.
Scope and Applicability
This Policy applies to all paid transactions on the Services, including without limitation: paid Patron Subscriptions; Club Partner Program Subscriptions; additional podcast interview fees; Seminar registrations; digital downloads (including PDT Exclusive Downloads, PDT Albums, K9 First Aid 911, and Pedigrees2Pups); and physical products purchased through the Pure Dog Talk shop.
Free Accounts and free Content do not involve any charge and are accordingly not subject to refund. Termination of free Accounts is governed by Section 20 (Suspension and Termination) of the Terms of Service.
This Policy does not apply to purchases made from third parties (including without limitation podcast distribution platforms, sponsor websites, or third-party retailers), even where such third parties are referenced or linked from the Services. Such purchases are governed solely by the refund and return policies of those third parties.
General Refund Philosophy
Pure Dog Talk operates a transparent and consistent refund framework consistent with industry standards for digital media, recurring subscriptions, and educational events. Our general principles are:
- Digital downloads are non-refundable. Once digital content has been delivered, it cannot be retrieved or unsent.
- Subscription fees are non-refundable except in limited circumstances. Cancellation prevents future renewals but does not refund the current paid period.
- Seminar fees are non-refundable except as expressly stated. Transfer credits may be available at our discretion.
- Physical products may be returned within thirty (30) days in original condition, subject to the terms in Section 7.
- Defective or undelivered products are eligible for replacement or refund at our discretion.
- Discretionary refunds may be granted on a case-by-case basis, particularly for verifiable hardship, technical errors, or exceptional circumstances.
- Statutory rights under applicable consumer protection law are preserved regardless of the terms of this Policy.
Patron Memberships
Paid Patron memberships are billed annually at the rates of $100, $200, or $300 per year (Patron, Advanced Patron, and All Access Patron, respectively) and renew automatically on the anniversary of the original signup date.
Cancellation
You may cancel your Patron Subscription at any time through your account dashboard at puredogtalk.com/account/ or by contacting team@puredogtalk.com. Upon cancellation:
- You will retain access to all Patron benefits through the end of your then-current paid annual billing period;
- Your Subscription will not renew at the end of the current period;
- You will receive a confirmation email reflecting your cancellation date and access end date;
- No refund will be issued for the unused portion of the current annual billing period, except as set forth below.
Discretionary Refunds
Patron membership fees are non-refundable except at Pure Dog Talk's sole discretion. To request a discretionary refund, contact team@puredogtalk.com within seven (7) days of the charge date with a description of your circumstances. Each request is reviewed individually. Discretionary refunds, where granted, are typically partial or pro-rata based on the period elapsed and the benefits accessed during that time.
Failed Payments
If a renewal payment fails, we will provide notice to your registered email address and a grace period of seven (7) days during which you may update your payment information. If payment is not successfully resolved within the grace period, Patron access shall be automatically suspended without further notice. Suspended Accounts may be reactivated by completing payment, subject to the rates and terms in effect at the time of reactivation.
Tier Changes
You may upgrade or downgrade your membership tier at any time through your account dashboard. Tier changes take effect immediately. Upgrades are prorated automatically by our payment processor (Stripe), with the unused portion of your prior tier credited toward the upgrade. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current paid period; no refund is issued for the difference between the higher and lower tier rates.
Club Partner Program
The Pure Dog Talk Club Partner Program is a paid annual partnership available to qualifying Clubs at the Founding Rate of $250 per year (regularly $500 per year). Cancellation, refunds, and termination of Club Partner Subscriptions are governed by Section 5 of the Terms of Service and supplemented by this Section.
Cancellation by Club
A Club may cancel its Subscription at any time by providing written notice to team@puredogtalk.com. Cancellation shall be effective at the end of the then-current annual billing period. The Club will retain partnership benefits through the end of that period.
Non-Refundable Fees
Club Partner Program fees are non-refundable except as expressly provided in this Section or at Pure Dog Talk's sole discretion. Where a Club has not yet received its annual interview at the time of cancellation, Pure Dog Talk shall use commercially reasonable efforts to deliver outstanding promised benefits before the partnership concludes.
Termination by Pure Dog Talk Without Cause
If Pure Dog Talk terminates a Club Partner Subscription without cause, we shall issue a prorated refund of the unused portion of the annual fee, calculated on a daily basis from the effective date of termination through the end of the then-current annual billing period.
Termination by Pure Dog Talk For Cause
Where Pure Dog Talk terminates a Club Partner Subscription for cause — including without limitation material breach of the Terms of Service, misuse of Marks or Partnership Content, conduct that damages our reputation, breach of community standards, or initiation of a chargeback in violation of Section 9 of the Terms of Service — no refund shall be issued.
Founding Rate Forfeiture
Important — Founding Rate Conditions: The Founding Rate of $250 per year is a benefit conditioned upon continuous active membership. If a Club's Subscription lapses, is canceled, is suspended for non-payment, or is terminated for any reason, the Founding Rate is forfeited.
This forfeiture applies regardless of whether a refund (discretionary or otherwise) is issued upon cancellation. Clubs that cancel and later wish to rejoin will pay the then-current standard rate of $500 per year, or such other rate as may be in effect at the time of reactivation.
Program Modification or Discontinuation
If Pure Dog Talk modifies or discontinues the Club Partner Program, active Subscribers shall be honored at their current rate through the end of their then-current billing period. In the event of full discontinuation, active Subscribers shall receive a prorated refund of the unearned portion of the annual fee, calculated on a daily basis.
Additional Podcast Interview Fees
The $100 non-refundable editing fee for additional podcast interviews beyond the included annual interview is charged separately at the time of booking. This fee is non-refundable except where Pure Dog Talk is unable to deliver the additional interview due to circumstances within our control. The fee is not refundable for:
- Scheduling conflicts caused by the Club or its representatives;
- Cancellation or rescheduling requests by the Club within seven (7) days of the scheduled recording;
- Issues with the recorded content that fall within reasonable editorial discretion;
- Any reason after the recording has been completed.
Seminars and Events
Seminar fees are non-refundable unless otherwise stated in the published refund policy of the specific event. By registering for a Seminar, you acknowledge and accept this non-refundable nature of the registration.
Cancellation by Attendee
If you are unable to attend after registering, you may request a transfer credit by notifying us at team@puredogtalk.com at least seven (7) days in advance of the event date. Where granted at our discretion, transfer credits:
- Are valid for twelve (12) months from the original event date;
- May be applied to any equivalent or higher-priced future Seminar (with the difference paid by you);
- Are not redeemable for cash or refund;
- Are limited to one transfer per original registration (chain transfers are not permitted);
- Are non-transferable to other persons except with our prior written consent.
No refund or transfer credit shall be issued for no-shows or for cancellations made less than seven (7) days before the event date, except as provided below or at our sole discretion.
Last-Minute Illness
We recognize that illness can be unpredictable. Where you are unable to attend a Seminar due to communicable illness (including without limitation respiratory infections, gastrointestinal illness, or symptoms of contagious disease), we strongly encourage you to stay home for the safety of other attendees, hosts, and any animals on site. Requests for transfer credit due to last-minute illness will be considered on a case-by-case basis at our sole discretion. Documentation of illness may be requested.
Cancellation by Pure Dog Talk
If Pure Dog Talk cancels a Seminar for any reason, registered attendees shall be offered, at their election:
- A full refund of the registration fee to the original payment method; or
- A transfer credit (valid for twelve (12) months) for an equivalent or higher-priced future Seminar.
Force Majeure Cancellation
Where a Seminar is cancelled, postponed, or materially modified due to force majeure events (including without limitation natural disasters, pandemics, government orders, civil unrest, terrorism, hosting platform failures, venue unavailability, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control), the same options apply: full refund or transfer credit at the attendee's election. Pure Dog Talk shall communicate force majeure cancellations as soon as reasonably practicable.
Venue or Date Changes
If Pure Dog Talk materially changes the venue or date of a Seminar after registration, attendees who are unable to attend at the new venue or date may request:
- A full refund of the registration fee; or
- A transfer credit (valid for twelve (12) months) for an equivalent or higher-priced future Seminar.
Requests must be submitted within fourteen (14) days of notice of the change.
Travel Costs Not Covered
Important — Travel Expenses: Pure Dog Talk is not responsible for any travel-related expenses incurred by attendees, including without limitation airfare, hotel accommodations, ground transportation, meals, car rental, baggage fees, parking, pet boarding, or travel insurance, regardless of whether a Seminar proceeds, is cancelled, postponed, modified, or relocated. We strongly recommend that attendees purchase travel insurance to protect against unexpected disruptions.
Virtual and Hybrid Seminar Technical Issues
For virtual or hybrid Seminars, if Pure Dog Talk's livestream or virtual platform experiences a technical failure of more than thirty (30) minutes that materially prevents attendee participation, affected attendees may request a pro-rata refund or transfer credit. Technical issues on the attendee's end (including internet connectivity, device compatibility, software issues, or local network problems) are the attendee's responsibility and are not eligible for refund. Where Seminar recordings are made available after the event, access to the recording satisfies the participation obligation.
Group Registrations
Where multiple attendees are registered under a single payment (such as a Club registering several officers), partial refunds for individual cancellations are not available. Substitute attendees may be permitted at our discretion if requested at least seven (7) days before the event.
Digital Downloads
All sales of digital downloads are final and non-refundable. Once a digital download has been delivered, no refund will be issued except as expressly required by law.
This Section applies to all digital download products sold through the Services, including without limitation:
- PDT Exclusive Downloads;
- PDT Albums;
- K9 First Aid 911;
- Pedigrees2Pups;
- Any other digital file, recording, document, or content delivered electronically.
Why Digital Downloads Are Non-Refundable
Once a digital file has been delivered to you, it cannot be retrieved, deactivated, or verified as deleted. Industry standards and applicable consumer protection law recognize that digital downloads are uniquely subject to non-refundable terms because the seller cannot ensure the recovery or non-use of the file after delivery.
When Is a Digital Product Considered Delivered?
A digital product is considered delivered when:
- An email containing the download link has been sent to the email address you provided at checkout, or
- The download link has been made available in your customer account or member dashboard, or
- You have completed at least one successful download.
Whether you have actually opened or used the file is not relevant to delivery status.
Express Acknowledgment at Checkout
By completing your purchase of a digital download, you expressly acknowledge and agree:
- That you wish your digital product to be delivered immediately;
- That all sales are final once delivery begins;
- That you waive any right of withdrawal that may otherwise apply to digital content (see Section 12 for EU/UK consumers);
- That you have read and accepted this Refund and Returns Policy.
Eligible Replacement Situations
While digital downloads are non-refundable, we will provide a free replacement file in the limited situations described below, provided you contact us within thirty (30) days of your original purchase:
- Corrupted or unusable file: If the file you download is corrupted, will not open in standard software readers, has missing pages or sections, or is genuinely unusable due to a defect on our end.
- Download link never received: If you did not receive the email containing your download link within one (1) hour of purchase (after checking your spam folder).
- Accidental duplicate purchase: If you accidentally placed two identical orders within twenty-four (24) hours and contact us before downloading the duplicate.
- Unauthorized purchase: If your payment method or account was used without your authorization.
Not Eligible for Refund or Replacement
The following situations are not eligible for refund or replacement:
- Buyer's remorse or change of mind;
- "Not what I expected" claims after product description was reviewed;
- Failure to use, download, or access the product;
- Compatibility issues with your specific software, device, or operating system;
- Lost download links after delivery (re-download via account where available);
- Internet, device, or technical issues on your end;
- Forgotten purchases or unused content;
- Currency exchange differences or international transaction fees;
- Requests submitted more than thirty (30) days after purchase.
Discontinued Digital Products
If a digital product is discontinued or removed from our store, customers who previously purchased it will retain access to existing downloads via their account history (where applicable) for at least ninety (90) days following discontinuation, unless removal is required by law. Where access is removed before ninety (90) days due to legal requirements, a pro-rata refund may be issued at our discretion.
Physical Products and Shop Items
Order Acceptance and Cancellation
The placement of an order constitutes an offer to purchase, which Pure Dog Talk may accept or decline at our sole discretion. You may request cancellation of an order before it ships by contacting team@puredogtalk.com with the subject line "Order Cancellation." Once an order has shipped, cancellation is no longer possible; the return process below applies instead.
Returns and Exchanges
Physical products may be returned within thirty (30) days of delivery for a refund of the product price, subject to the following conditions:
- The item must be unused, unworn, and in original condition with all original tags, packaging, and inserts;
- Original shipping charges are non-refundable;
- Return shipping is the responsibility of the customer, except in cases of defective or wrong-shipped items;
- Personalized, custom, made-to-order, and final-sale items are non-returnable;
- Returns must be initiated by emailing team@puredogtalk.com with the subject line "Return Request" to obtain return authorization and shipping instructions.
Defective or Damaged Products
If you receive a defective or damaged product, you must contact team@puredogtalk.com within seven (7) days of delivery, with the subject line "Defective Product" and including:
- Your order number;
- A description of the defect or damage;
- Photographic documentation of the issue (including any damaged packaging where applicable).
Pure Dog Talk shall arrange for a replacement or refund at our discretion. Return shipping for defective items will be covered by Pure Dog Talk.
Wrong Item Shipped
If we ship the wrong item, contact us within seven (7) days of delivery using the same process described above. We will arrange for return of the incorrect item (at our expense) and shipment of the correct item, or issue a full refund at the customer's election.
Shipping Carrier Issues
Risk of loss and title for physical products passes to the customer upon delivery to the carrier. Pure Dog Talk shall not be liable for carrier delays, lost packages, or damage occurring during shipment. We shall, however, use commercially reasonable efforts to assist customers in filing claims with the carrier. For lost packages, we will work with the carrier to investigate; if recovery is unsuccessful and the package is confirmed lost in transit, we will, at our discretion, ship a replacement or issue a refund.
Pricing Errors
Pure Dog Talk reserves the right to refuse or cancel any order in cases of pricing errors, product description errors, or insufficient stock. If we discover a pricing error after you place an order, we will contact you and either honor the listed price or cancel the order with a full refund of any amount already charged.
International Orders
Where international shipping is offered, the customer is solely responsible for any import duties, taxes, customs fees, and other charges imposed by the destination country. International returns are subject to additional shipping considerations; contact us for guidance before initiating an international return.
Refund Processing and Timeline
Method
Where a refund is granted, it shall be issued to the original payment method used for the purchase. Refunds cannot be issued to a different payment method, account, or person, except where the original method is no longer available, in which case alternative arrangements may be made.
Timing
Approved refunds are processed through Stripe within five (5) business days of approval. The refund typically appears in your account within five to ten (5-10) business days, depending on your bank or card issuer. Pure Dog Talk shall use commercially reasonable efforts to issue all refunds within thirty (30) days of approval.
Currency
All purchases and refunds are processed in U.S. Dollars. Currency conversion losses, foreign transaction fees, and similar charges imposed by your bank or card issuer are not refundable and are between you and your financial institution.
Payment Processor Fees
Payment processing fees, transaction fees, and similar third-party charges are not refunded.
Identity Verification
To protect against fraudulent refund requests, Pure Dog Talk may require additional verification of your identity before processing a refund. Verification may include confirming order details, the email address used at checkout, or other information reasonably required to authenticate the request.
Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
Contact Us First
If you have a concern with any charge from Pure Dog Talk, you must contact us at team@puredogtalk.com with the subject line "Billing Dispute" and provide a reasonable opportunity (not less than ten (10) business days) for us to resolve the issue before initiating a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank or card issuer.
Improper Chargebacks
Initiating a chargeback for a legitimate purchase — including any of the following — constitutes a material breach of our Terms of Service:
- Disputing a charge you authorized and received;
- Disputing as "fraud" when you actually placed the order;
- Disputing as "service not received" when the digital product, Subscription access, or physical product was successfully delivered;
- Disputing as "not as described" without first contacting us to attempt resolution;
- Disputing because you changed your mind, no longer want the product, forgot to cancel, or did not use the product;
- Disputing a Subscription renewal where renewal terms were clearly disclosed at signup.
Consequences of Improper Chargebacks
Pursuant to Section 9 of our Terms of Service, if you initiate an improper chargeback, Pure Dog Talk reserves the right to:
- Provide evidence to the payment processor demonstrating the legitimacy of the charge;
- Permanently suspend or terminate your Account, membership, or Club Partner status;
- Permanently bar you from accessing future Services;
- Pursue recovery of disputed amounts, plus chargeback fees imposed by Stripe (typically $15-$25 per chargeback);
- Recover reasonable costs and attorneys' fees incurred in resolving the dispute;
- Report the chargeback to fraud-tracking databases as we deem appropriate.
Card Network Reason Codes
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover have specific dispute reason codes that apply to digital products, recurring subscriptions, and physical goods. Disputes filed under inapplicable reason codes will be challenged with appropriate documentation.
Access Revocation Upon Refund
In the event Pure Dog Talk issues a full refund for any product or Subscription:
- Your license to use the refunded product, Content, or Subscription benefit is automatically revoked as of the refund date;
- You must cease all use of the refunded product or Content and delete all copies in your possession or control;
- Continued use of the refunded product or Content after refund is unauthorized and may constitute copyright infringement or breach of contract;
- Your access to the relevant Member Area features, downloads, or Subscription benefits will be removed;
- Member Account information, Member directory profile, and engagement records may be retained or anonymized in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Section 12 of the Terms of Service.
By accepting a refund, you agree to these conditions. We may pursue legal remedies, including damages and injunctive relief, against any person who continues to use a refunded product or Content.
California Auto-Renewal Disclosures
This Section is provided to comply with the California Auto-Renewal Law (California Business and Professions Code §§ 17600-17606), as amended.
Auto-Renewal Notice
California Residents — Auto-Renewal Disclosure: Your Patron Subscription or Club Partner Subscription will automatically renew annually on the anniversary of your original signup date at the rate disclosed at the time of signup, until you cancel.
You may cancel at any time online through your account dashboard at puredogtalk.com/account/ or by emailing team@puredogtalk.com. Cancellation is effective at the end of your then-current paid period.
Renewal Reminder
For annual Subscriptions priced at $100 or more (which includes all Patron tiers and Club Partner Subscriptions), Pure Dog Talk shall provide a renewal reminder email to your registered email address between fifteen (15) and forty-five (45) days before each scheduled renewal. The reminder shall include:
- The product or Subscription that will renew;
- The amount that will be charged;
- The date of renewal;
- Instructions on how to cancel.
Online Cancellation
Because you signed up online, you may cancel online. Cancellation does not require a phone call, in-person visit, or any other action that is more difficult than the signup process. Cancellation is processed promptly upon receipt of your request.
Cancellation Confirmation
Upon cancellation, you will receive a confirmation email reflecting your cancellation date, the date your access will end, and any final charges (typically none for cancellations within a paid period). Cancellation records are retained for at least three (3) years in accordance with applicable law.
